85 Broad on Untapped Cities

Untapped Cities has written a good feature on the historical thinking behind the design at 85 Broad St, New York.

I led the team at ESI Design to come up with ways to improve and update the experience of this building in downtown New York.  The building is adjacent to some of the oldest remaining buildings in the city, and has some original foundation remains on public view on the property. The building was built on top of Stone Street, and the curved path of the lobby corridor is the same path that the street used to take. We came up with a series of design ideas to reference the experience of walking down an open street, as well as ways to emphasize the pattern of the streets, and how it has changed over time.  Read the feature here…
